About EGGS

Elmsett Greenlife Grove Scheme (or EGGS) is a community woodland scheme in Elmsett, near Ipswich in Suffolk, England, begun in 2005. We've planted a woodland on land owned by James Buckle, so we've named it Buckle's Wood.

We've been supported from the beginning by The Green Light Trust, which has a similar scheme at Lawshall in Suffolk, and by the children, parents and staff from Elmsett Primary School. The children chose the scheme's name, helped to grow trees and to plant them, and use the woodland as an outdoor classroom.

If you live in or near Elmsett and would like to help, please get in touch by emailing eggscheme at gmail.com (you know how to substitute @ for 'at', don't you?). Working parties are friendly and fun, and we supply refreshments.

Let me desire and wish well the life
these trees may live when I
no longer rise in the mornings
to be pleased by the green of them
shining, and their shadow on the ground,
and the sound of the wind in them.
